I am co-founder of Castelo Green. I’m based in Oxford in and have a long career in software development – working in big consultancies, global financial markets (where my co-founder, Ellie and I, first worked together) and more recently, startups and scale-ups. I’ve managed teams from 3 to 300. I’m at my happiest working with smaller, fast growing teams trying to get that tricky balance of moving fast and making things better at the same time.
I’ve hired more people in my career than I can count. Reflecting on what I most enjoy in my work, I realised that helping teams grow, helping engineers find the right home to reach their potential and helping managers thrive while they grow their teams is something I get a kick from. I am buzzing to join Ellie, a friend and colleague that sees the world the same way, to deliver a recruitment service that is actually positive and constructive for all involved.
When I’m not working I’m usually thinking about work … aided by long swims and runs. With a Masters and PhD in sustainability and energy systems, I use any time left over to keep current with eco-politics and economics and plot the overthrow of our world order.

I have many years IT Recruitment and Business Coaching experience. During COVID and lockdown my Business/ Interview coaching work took an unexpected turn into coaching for fulfilment and self-care. It´s pretty obvious, all these factors are interconnected and the way to build a great team is a happy team. An unexpected encounter with my old friend and former client Allen Shaw has blossomed into an exciting partnership that is reimagining the way Software Engineering Recruitment should be done, with experience, integrity and care.
In my downtime I like nothing better than hanging out with our CDO and my best mate, Callum! We like long walks along the river and going to the pub with our mates! To balance that, I am also dedicated to the gym and am obsessed with boxing.

You may ask, what does this have to do with recruitment? Well, my focus in life is helping people achieve their goals, which is why I work as a Personal Trainer. When I was approached to work part-time at Castelo Green, I realized I got immense joy from helping people meet their career goals as well (although I always try to nudge people into starting a fitness program too). It has been very rewarding knowing that I have made a difference to people´s lives on both counts.
I am also a Hockey player and am used to working as a team in the most competitive and demanding environments.
As part of my job, I am currently responsible for our Portuguese team’s workout sessions in the gym and, most importantly, the private boxing sessions that our Co-Founder does to relieve stress and stay on top.

Callum is the company´s CDO (Chief Dog Officer). He currently lives in Portugal with his mum. Even though he is a playboy from Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, he takes his company duties very seriously. His main duty is spreading happiness and joy to everyone he comes across. He is currently trying to be responsible for the website cookies (I think he has misunderstood their meaning).
He supports Flamengo football team and has a cool Instagram account and thousands of followers.
